Library Cards

Sharon Public Libary

Library cards are issued free of charge to any Sharon resident and to Massachusetts residents with a valid library card from their state certified local library.

Residents of towns participating in the Old Colony Library Network (click here to see Member Libraries) may use their hometown cards.

Old Colony Library Network patrons must register in their home library before borrowing at the Sharon Public Library.

Current identification and proof of address are required. Typically, adults are asked for a driver's license, but other forms of identification may be acceptable. Call the Library's Circulation Department at (781)784-1578 x.21 to inquire.

Sharon Public Library cards are individual cards, not family cards, and are, therefore, not transferable. However, individuals may chose to link library cards/accounts together. Inquire at the Library's Circulation Department about this service.

Children 3 years of age and older are issued cards from the Children's Department.
A Sharon Public Library card may be used to borrow from other Old Colony Library Network libraries.

A library patron shall be required to present his/her library card each time s/he wishes to borrow materials. Should a library user forget to bring his/her library card, library staff shall offer to place the material(s) on the reserve shelves until which time the patron is able to return with his/her library card; the amount of time items may be held in reserve is not to exceed one (1) library business day.

If a card is lost or stolen, notify the Library's Circulation Department immediately to prevent unauthorized borrowing.

Lost cards are replaced at a charge of $1.00.
